Jugend Radio

Jugendradio was a youth-oriented radio program in East Germany (GDR) that operated under the state-controlled broadcaster, Rundfunk der DDR. It was launched in 1964 and primarily targeted young listeners with music, cultural content, and political messaging aligned with socialist values. The station played a mix of Western and Eastern music but maintained strict censorship to promote GDR-approved content. Jugendradio ceased operations in 1991 following German reunification and the restructuring of the broadcasting system. It was later replaced by new, independent media outlets.
