WWRL Super 1600

WWRL Super 1600 is a historic AM radio station licensed to New York City. It began broadcasting in 1926 and became known for its focus on community-oriented programming, catering to diverse audiences over the years. In the 1960s and 1970s, it gained prominence as a key station for soul, R&B, and gospel music, particularly serving the African American community. Later, it transitioned to talk radio formats and, in its later years, shifted to Spanish-language programming. The station ceased operations in 2014, with its license formally canceled by the FCC in 2018.
