Radio Quito

Radio Quito was a prominent radio station in Ecuador, established in 1940 in the city of Quito. It gained historical significance for its role in the infamous 1949 "War of the Worlds" broadcast, where a dramatized alien invasion caused widespread panic among listeners who believed it to be real. The incident led to a mob attack on the station, resulting in its offices being set on fire and multiple fatalities. Known as "La Voz de la Capital" (The Voice of the Capital), Radio Quito played a key role in Ecuadorian media for decades. The station is remembered as a symbol of the power and responsibility of mass communication.
