Detailed Introduction
Radio 227 was a Dutch offshore radio station that operated briefly in 1967. It broadcast from the ship *Laissez Faire*, anchored in the North Sea, and primarily played pop music to appeal to a younger audience. The station was established as a response to the popularity of pirate radio in the Netherlands but faced challenges due to the passing of the Marine Offences Act. Radio 227 ceased operations later in 1967, as legal restrictions on offshore broadcasting tightened. It is remembered as part of the 1960s pirate radio movement in Europe.
